As a kid, I was a rabid fan of Mad Magazine. Back in the 80s it was my first real introduction to the world of satire and I ate up every TV and movie pun that they handed to me. But it was always the little cartoons in the margins that would remind me that there was something magical happening behind the scenes at that magazine.
Sergio Aragonés can tell a story in 3 seconds with the smallest of cartoons. These simple illustrations felt like a bonus sneaked onto the final layouts. I always imagined Sergio stealing the artwork minutes before printing and scribbling in his drawings when no-one was looking.
